Liberty Mutual has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Paralegal to join our team and provide legal support to attorneys and professionals on litigation, corporate or business matters.
Responsibilities:
* Review both the Claims records and Legal files to respond to interrogatories or discovery demands. Updates/posts computer system with all relevant work completed on a file.
* Respond to court calendar calls, or WC Boards to resolve disputes. May negotiate settlements at WC Boards. Acts as liaison between WC Board and Claims. May arrange payment plans with policyholders to recover monies owed.
* Prepare standard pleadings; drafts motions in higher court cases utilizing computer software.
* Handle investigations including locating witnesses, interviewing witnesses, photographing accident scenes and obtaining evidence for trial.
* Assist attorneys in trial preparation procedures.

Requirements |
Qualifications:
* Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required.
* Paralegal certificate preferred. Requires 1-3 years working experience as a Paralegal.
* Knowledge of California workers' compensation law preferred.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with attorneys, clients and policyholders.
* Must be able to exercise independent judgment.
* Must display effective use of Microsoft Word, Excel and corporate databases.
